International Women's Day 2022 | Evolution in Perspective

Needless to say, the world is in constant flux, and reality has changed since topics like human rights and gender equality began to be debated. And that's a good thing!

On this International Women's Day, I would like to witness not as part of the female community, but as part of the community—period—because, for me, being a woman has never been a theme, and the difference between genders is simply a biological and identification matter. I would also like to start by recalling the "why" of having an International Women's Day. In my view, in one word: inequality! And has anything changed since the early 20th century, when we began to mark this date? Generally speaking, I can happily say, yes! We live in a globalized world where people move freely, fostering cultural exchange across borders; access to education has become easier; organizations are favoring horizontal leadership models over rigid vertical ones; authoritarianism is no longer the keyword in leadership, and empathy has taken its place; employee empowerment and well-being have increasingly become a priority; and even the stark barrier between men and women, once practically insurmountable, is beginning to give way.

Let's ask ourselves: "Is it enough?" I don't believe so. But this process is a marathon, and like all marathons, it has various stages, and the first steps have been taken. We see evidence of this in the resilience and joint effort developed in resolving a global pandemic that altered reality as we knew it. And while we are moving at different speeds in different geographies, with other asymmetries that we will need to correct along the way, the core of my message is optimism. Because sometimes, it is important to pause for a few seconds, appreciate what has been done, and then resume moving in that direction. Not only for women but for everyone! And so that, one day, dates like International Women's Day will no longer be necessary.

The future can be bright, and it is up to us—all of us—to make it the best it can be. To conclude, today, March 8th, I invite you to take a pause, look back, and take a moment to reflect and celebrate what we have achieved so far. However, don’t forget that tomorrow is a new day, and as such, a new day to keep moving forward!

Rupture between professional and personal life is a myth: employee well-being should be a whole.

In industrialized countries, we spend most of our time indoors. According to the National Human Activity Pattern Survey in the United States, we spend about 90% of our lives in enclosed environments, meaning that by the age of 40, we will have spent 36 years within four walls.

And there's nothing like the comfort of a hug from my child while I work.

As children return to school and daycare, one of the issues that arises is the coordination between parents' work schedules and their children's school schedules. The question of who will drop off and pick up the children becomes a domestic negotiation among parents. For the first time in my life, I am facing this dilemma, and I couldn't be more proud to be part of a company and group that views this paternal moment in a natural, respectful, and understanding way.
